The NV-U53 is part of the budget range of Sony's nav-u satellite navigation systems. With a sturdy and compact design the Sony NVU53 features a high-quality 4.3 inch widescreen, making it a pleasure to use. The large touch-screen incorporates well laid out controls ensuring fast and simple use.

A unique feature not currently seen on other satnavs is the 'Gesture Commands'. These are a quick and easy way to access commonly used functions straight away instead of navigating to them via multiple menus. Simply draw a shape on the screen to access a particular function, e.g. a line from right to left for nearby parking, a line from left to right for fuel stations.

The Sony NV-U53G is pre-loaded with detailed and very accurate maps of UK and Ireland. There are also partial mappings of Belgium and Northern France down to Paris, ideal for day trips across the channel.

Navigation is clear and precise with voice directions which also converse the road names. Full 7 digit UK postcodes are supported, along with the usual points of interest such as petrol stations, parking, hotels, restaurants. The Sony NVU53G also comes with a free 12 month safety camera subscription identifying speed camera locations.
